The R.A.I.N. Project funding was completed on Sept. 14, 2005 but the impact and legacy of the Project lives on in our R.A.I.N. communities. The legacy also lives on in the title of the Community Access Program Network for the RAINCap Region. Follow the link for more informaion about RAINCap Network.

Under the guidance of Project Manager Les Deacon Rogers "RAIN" was an exciting and innovative project which is a collaborative effort of 17 community organizations and funded through the Office of Learning Technology's Community Learning Network.

The primary goal of "RAIN" was to increase the technological knowledge of those who have not accessed the wide variety of information available to them by way of technology. "RAIN" was innovative in its approach to educational delivery to the communities on the North Coast. At least one person from Metlakatla, Kitkatla, Hartley Bay, Lax Kw'alaams, Oona River, Dodge Cove, Port Edward and Prince Rupert was trained to train other community members in computers and Internet access.

Northwest Community College was very involved in creating a training program in a wide variety of technological subjects for those who were then responsible for imparting this knowledge to other community members.

CFDC-PNW and Northwest Community College worked hand-in-hand with Citytel, the City of Prince Rupert, Prince Rupert Economic Development Commission, The Prince Rupert Public Library, The District of Port Edward, School District #52, Skeena Queen Charlotte Regional District, The Government Agents office in Prince Rupert, Tsimshian Tribal Council, The Prince Rupert Friendship House, The Career Resource Centre,The Nisga'a Nation, The Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce, The Prince Rupert Friendship House Association and Human Resources Development Canada, in putting together the plan for this project.
