Butze Rapids Interpretive Trail

The Community Fisheries Development Centre submitted a proposal to the Community Economic Adjustment Initiative Phase II through the Community Futures Office to do the necessary completion to the Butze Rapids Interpretive Trail. The trail is one of Prince Rupert’s most valued, high traffic recreation sites. High use and the regions high rainfall had caused the trail to become eroded.

The project was approved for funding and during the late summer and fall of 2004 work on the trail was initiated and completed within a 14 week time period. During the duration of the project there were 4 people employed full time for 12 weeks, as well as 1 full-time and 2 part-time positions for 14 weeks. The completion of this work has allowed Butze Rapids Interpretive Trail to become a Main attraction to locals and visitors alike and will be enjoyed for many years to come.
